The Rio Celeste Waterfall in Tenorio Volcano National Park in the northwestern Guanacaste region is renowned for its hypnotic blue color and tropical surroundings. The day I visited it was raining, Imagine that raining in the rainforest. We pulled up to the entrance and the locals had rubber boot rental booths set up. We decided we were not afraid of the mud. So we ventured out in our tennis shoes as we ascended the mud got worse and it turned into puddles. We made it to the waterfall to find that we had to go down about 10 flight of stairs to get to the base of the waterfall which was worth every step and every step backup. There was a lake that we were trying to hike to but the puddle turned into slippy very large puddles. So we turned around before we ended up covered in mud from head to toe. Word of advice when the locals offer to rent you mud boot take them up on it.
